As we get older and more mature (in some cases), things change quite a bit. We realize that making plans is not an exact science, that events often times take their own course and we should simply adjust accordingly. And then there are those extreme cases of people like me, people that have completely let go of all the planning activities and are just going with the flow at all times. And it is with that simple philosophy in mind that I found myself running outside at 4:30 this morning, instead of my usual and relatively normal 5 AM. You can’t really plan these things – they just happen…
As you already know, every time I step outside – it’s bound to be an adventure, and no matter what I try, no matter which route I take or how unassuming my behavior may be, there is always something lurking in the shadows, looking to become a part of my day. And since I’ve been accused of making up certain parts of my material or embellishing on what really may have taken place, I decided that from now on I would simply video-record all the insanity that you “normal” people refuse to believe.
This video may in fact shock you and make you a bit uneasy, it has that certain “Blair Witch Project” quality to it, as it is entirely raw, unedited, unscripted and – like everything else – unplanned. Titled “The Lights Ahead” it basically depicts my brief but explosive encounter with a car that appeared to be stalking me… or perhaps not. Well, I’ll let you judge for yourself, but unlike the people that chased the Blair Witch woman through the woods, I made it out ok…
Ahhh, life delivers its small measures of surprise and pleasure, but in the end it’s the little moments that count and stay with you forever. And since in my case surprise is all that remains, once in a great while I stop and capture the moment when everything is still, quiet, relaxed and straight-forward. On my way to work, I take a couple of minutes to pull over, get out of the car and stand at the edge of the cliff with a steaming cup of coffee in one hand and an éclair in the other… And then I pause and take in the moment. Because when all is said and done, it is all about the moments.
Keep it running!
